Comet C/2004 YJ35 was discovered on 31 December 2004 during Lincoln Laboratory Near-Earth Asteroid Research project, that is 2 months before its perihelion passage, and was observed until 1 December 2005 [MPC database]. Comet had its closest approach to the Earth on 19 February 2005 (1.405 au), that is 12 days before perihelion.

GR solution given here is based on data spanning over 0.918 yr in a range of heliocentric distances: 1.95 au – 1.78 au (perihelion) – 3.68 au. NG orbit is not possible to obtain.

This Oort spike comet suffers moderate planetary perturbations while passing through the planetary system; these perturbations lead to more tight future orbit with semimajor axis of about 1250 au (see future barycentric orbits).
