C/2022 F1 ATLAS
more info
Comet C/2022 F1 was discovered on 30 March 2022 by ATLAS Chile (Rio Hurtado), that is four months before its perihelion passage.
Comet had its closest approach to the Earth on 24 June 2022 (5.51 au), about 1.5 month before its perihelion passage.
Preferred NG solution given here is based on data span over 2.35 yr in a range of heliocentric distances: 6.04 au – 5.97 au (perihelion) – 7.79 au.
This long-period comet (semimajor axis in the range 5,000-6,000 au) suffers small planetary perturbations during its passage through the planetary system that lead to a more loose future orbit with semimajor axis of about 17,300 au.
